Eating out on a cut
Updated October 14, 2026. Nutrition from each chain's published data via FatSecret.
On a cut, pick a main with lean protein first, then keep calories in check with sauces on the side and fewer fried sides. The table below shows the best cut friendly pick at each chain from published nutrition data.
How do I order fast food on a cut?
Start with the protein. Grilled chicken, double protein bowls and egg based breakfast items usually give the most protein for the calories.
Then look at what rides along. Sauces, dressings, cheese and fried sides add calories quickly, so ask for them on the side or skip one.
Keep the deficit moderate. A small, steady deficit is easier to stick with than a very low calorie day.
